You have to break the fast by replenishing your body with essential nutrients. If you fail to provide your body with the required nutrients at this time, you leave it with no choice other than to break down muscle tissues for energy. This is terrible news for muscle builders because it means that your workout program is regressing, and that all your effort is put to waste.

Two cups of coffee, five pieces of toast, and a bowl of cereal might work for people who have no intentions of keeping healthy, but for people who are looking for food to fuel their muscle building program that is not the type of breakfast that can give you what you need. You must have a balanced breakfast that is made up of complex and simple carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, and high quality proteins. Each can be consumed according to your workout schedule.

The food that you take for breakfast will vary depending on the schedule of your workout. If you have breakfast before working out, then it would be advisable to include more carbohydrates in your breakfast and add quick-digesting protein like whey. If you take your breakfast after working out, then it would be ideal to consume higher ratios of proteins.

Post Workout Meal

This meal is even more important than your breakfast. If you do not have a proper meal after your workout session you are completely throwing away all the benefits that you have reaped during the session.

Remember that during a rigorous workout your body actually takes a battering. All resources that it has are depleted. Therefore, it is essential to eat a balanced meal after a workout session in order to make up for the nutrients you have lost during your exercise. It is essential to replenish your body with its required nutrients because they are essential not only for muscle growth, but for repair as well.
